Nechifor returns to Switzerland in September 2010
Radu Nechifor is performing in Switzerland during September 2010, accompanied again by church organist Bernhard Hoerler. Nechifor opens for Zamfir in Geneva on June 2
Maestro Gheorghe Zamfir will play at the Victoria Hall in Geneva, Switzerland at 20:00 on June 2, 2010, accompanied on piano by Christiane Gugger. Radu Nechifor will play in the debut of the concert. Nechifor has played with Gheorghe Zamfir on several times in the past, and has visited Switzerland on many occasions, but now for the first time he will play in Switzerland on the same stage with his teacher and mentor. |
Nechifor opens panflute workshop
At the end of 2008, Nechifor opened the doors of his personal panflute workshop, which he built with his own hands next to his home in Cisnadie. The event was honoured by the presence of Gheorghe Zamfir, his former panflute mentor. You can learn more about Nechifor panflutes in The Panflute Shop. |
January 2010 "Homage to Gheorghe Zamfir" Switzerland tour
Nechifor went on tour in Switzerland again at the beginning of 2010. He played in the Saint Michael Church in Zug and the Ref. Church in Rotkreuz with church organist Bernhard Hoerler. The two concerts were a follow-up to the 2009 "Homage to Gheorghe Zamfir" Switzerland tour. Nechifor launched his first album, "Panflute Essence"
Esenţă de Nai (Panflute Essence), Radu Nechifor's debut album, is now available in stores in Romania. The album contains a collection of instrumental folkloric songs from all historic regions of Romania. Travelling from the energy and joyfulness of the hora to the sublime emotions of the doina, Nechifor tries to synthesize in this album the essence of the sound of Romanian panflute. Gheorghe Zamfir wrote about Esenţă de Nai : « Radu Nechifor's technique and interpretation on this disk are impeccable. The sound, tone are clear, warm, powerful, the staccati precise, the nouances beyond reproach. » The following have played on this album beside Radu Nechifor: Costel Pandelescu (cimbalom), Nichita Constantin (string bass), Daniel Prodan (braci), Virgil Iancu (accordion), Vasile Alexandru (clarinet), Pancirel Constandache (trumpet), Adrian Belu (violin), Lucian Stoica (violin), Cornel Turcitu (violin), Marian Alexandru (conductor and violin). |
2009 Switzerland Tour
Radu Nechifor performed Gheorghe Zamfir's songs, accompanied on church organ by Bernhard Hoerler, during September 2009 in Switzerland, in a tour entitled "Hommage a Gheorghe Zamfir". The dates and locations were: Monday, 14.9.09, "Matthauskirche" church, Luzern Wednesday, 16.09.09, "Sankt Martin" church, Olten Saturday, 19.09.09, "ref. Kirche Schlieren" church, Schlieren Monday, 21.09.09, "Martinskirche" church, Chur The tour was organized by Joeri Murk, producer of the DAJOERI panflutes, founder of the DAJOERI panflute schools and organizer of the Arosa panflute festival. |
2007 North American Tour
In November and December 2007, Radu Nechifor was on tour in the USA and Canada, where he was invited by some of the people who attended his shows in Canada in the summer of 2007. Nechifor played in Canada in: Kitchener, Toronto, Windsor and London, and in the USA in Dallas, Texas and Houston, Texas, taking part in several events organized by the Romanian diaspora. |
